September 10, 1945 — July 30, 2022

Terry F. Reddell Sr., age 76, of Hubbard, passed away early Saturday morning, July 30, 2022 at his residence. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Denver Crawley. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. The family will receive visitors from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until service time at the church. Terry was born September 10, 1945, the son of Elberta and Euralee (Bettinger) Reddell. He grew up in Gholson on the banks of the Brazos River. Terry attended West High School, where he was quite an athlete, excelling in all sports. He graduated in 1964 and went on to attend Hill Junior College. On November 26, 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Cathy Rejcek. The young couple moved to Ft. Worth where Terry went to work for Nash Wholesale Hardware Company as a salesman, traveling through North Texas. It was the late Billy Jarvis that brought the Reddells to Hubbard in April 1969. Mr. Jarvis had built a True Value Store and he hired Terry to be the store manager and Cathy to work in the office. In 1973 they formed a partnership with Jink and Wanda Howard and established H&R Carpet. In 1974, they built a 5000 square foot building on IH35 near the city of West. The Reddells bought out the Howards share of the business in 1980 and H&R Carpet became their family-owned business. Terry retired from H&R Carpet in 2011 and his son, Jeff took over as manager. He assumed management of his Mother's Brazos River RV Park in Gholson which she opened in the 1940's. Terry, and his son Terry Jr., continually made improvements to the park and its 55 units which is located on the banks of the scenic Brazos River. Terry has also found time to be a civic leader in West and Hubbard. He is a long-time member of the West Kiwanis Club and Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce. Terry received the Hubbard Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Citizen Award for his service and dedication to the Hubbard community. Recently, the West Kiwanis Club recognized Terry with it's Distinguished Service Award for his more than 41 years of leadership and service in the West community. The Reddells are members of the Church of the Nativity, BVM in Penelope, where he serves on the Church Finance Council. He also served as a Board Member of Hubbard's Economic Development Corporation for a number of years. Terry is especially proud of his tenure as Mayor of the City of Hubbard from May 2005 until May 2012.
