Dickey Ray Bailey

Dickey Ray Bailey, age 72, of Elm Mott, passed away late Thursday evening, August 13, 2020 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Private family burial will be held at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro on Monday August 24, 2020. Richard was born June 20, 1948 in Houston, the son of Joseph and Lela (Mosley) Bailey. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and Hill Jr. College in Hillsboro prior to receiving a bachelor's degree in education while in California. He taught History at Yreka High School in California for many years. Richard enjoyed woodworking and built several decks for homes in the Dallas area. He was known as an avid reader and for receiving great reviews while participating in One Act Plays in high school and college. Richard was a maitre'd for several restaurants and was especially well known at the Tower Club in Dallas. His niece Veronica and all of her family will always remember him as the "cool uncle" who was very thoughtful and caring. Richard is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jodi Bailey, Richard Bailey, and Paul Fuglistaler; and his sisters, Shirley Manske and Lorrine Van Huss. Survivors include his half-sister, Anna Andrews of Yreka, CA; several nieces and nephews including Veronica Kaluza and her husband Shawn of Elm Mott; and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
