Charles J. Holy Sr., age 90, of West, passed away late Wednesday afternoon, July 22, 2020 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott (Please note that masks are required). Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Holy will lie-in-state Friday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Charlie was born January 5, 1930 in West, the son of Joe and Lillian (Smajstrla) Holy. He attended school in West. On June 5, 1950 he was united in marriage to Teresa Mrasek in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Teresa preceded him in death on November 8, 2014. Charlie was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was also a member of the KJT Society #31. Charlie was a farmer and very dedicated to the family land in Cottonwood. Charlie also built terraces and waterways for other farmers and was voted a Farmer of the Year by his peers. He was a very hard worker and enjoyed taking care of his cattle. Charlie enjoyed baking cookies, kolaches, and buchta's; building crosses, swings, chairs, beds and other iron items; dancing to and listening to Czech Music; playing 42; and traveling. He loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Charlie is also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond Holy and Joe Holy Jr.; sisters, Margaret Nemec, Wilma Kaluza, and Martha Rosalie Sinkule; and a grandsons, Jason Holy and Chad Felderhoff. Survivors include his children, Charles Holy Jr. and wife Ruth of Iota, LA, Veronica "Bunny" Felderhoff and husband Chuck of West, Christine Filer and husband Larry Joe of West, and Richard Holy and wife Patricia of West; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are James Brown, Larry Joe Filer Jr., Kevin Joe Filer, Dennis Holy, Jonathan Holy, Gregory Holy, Brendan Ballard, Luke Holy, and Scott Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund or St. Mary's Cemetery Association.
